Vehicle Evading Law Enforcement Crashes into Tampa Nightspot, Claiming Four Deceased and Eleven Hurt
A speeding vehicle that was evading police crashed into a crowded bar in the early hours on Saturday, killing four individuals and injuring eleven in a historic neighborhood of Tampa, known for its entertainment scene and visitors.
Aerial surveillance unit with the Tampa police department observed the vehicle operating dangerously on a freeway at about just after midnight after police stated the silver sedan had been observed illegally racing in a different neighborhood, according to a law enforcement statement.
The state highway patrol caught up with the vehicle and attempted to execute a maneuver that entails bumping a rear fender of a escaping vehicle to cause it to lose control, known as a precision immobilization technique, but it was ineffective.
State police officers “disengaged” as the car raced toward the historic downtown area near the city center, local authorities reported. Ultimately, the driver failed to maintain control of the car and hit more than a dozen people outside the establishment, officials confirmed.
