The sports network Cuts Ties with Mark Sanchez, Substitutes Him with Drew Brees
The network has ended its relationship with game analyst Mark Sanchez as he faces criminal charges, various sources confirmed on Friday.
"We can confirm that Mark Sanchez is no longer working for Fox," a network representative commented. "There will be no further comment at this time."
Stepping into the commentary position will be another former NFL quarterback, Drew Brees, as per the information. He will likely to partner with play-by-play voice Adam Amin and is signed to provide commentary through the 2026 season.
Details of the Incident Involving Sanchez
Sanchez, 38 had been sidelined since he was injured in a stabbing and later taken into custody after an altercation in an alley in Indianapolis with a 69-year-old truck driver. He had traveled to commentate on the 5 October game between the Colts and Las Vegas Raiders but was hospitalized and replaced that week by Brady Quinn.
Sanchez has been facing a felony battery charge as well as multiple misdemeanors. The felony charge carries a sentence of one to six years in prison, if convicted, and he has pleaded not guilty in Marion County, Indiana.
Drew Brees' Career and Background
Brees, 46 retired from the NFL after the 2020 season and worked during 2021 with the NBC network, acting as a game analyst for the Notre Dame football coverage and featured in a football program.
Brees has done studio work with multiple networks and served as an analyst for Netflix’s international game during the holidays.
He guided the New Orleans Saints to a Super Bowl XLIV championship in the 2009 season and was a two-time awardee NFL offensive standout. He ranks second behind Tom Brady in NFL history in passing yards (80,358) and TD passes (571).
