It's a challenge for Australia to set fresh records.

The greatest achievements have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the unit that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, plus another six T20 titles, and once went nearly four years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, the ones sought by the peak baggers, are what's still available for a team that has won it all.

It needed as late as Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, in truth, a compliment to the pitchers that have worn canary yellow over five decades.

It's difficult for their hitters to maintain a record if not afforded the possibility.

Ultimately, the outcome of Australia allowing 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy being given a chance to deliver her newest gem.

Initially recognized as the 19-year-old niece of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her nation didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has experienced everything through 15 successful years since.

A T20 World Cup win happened three months after her bow and seven international trophies have followed from 10 tries across formats.

That loss "motivated us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy said this week.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the title decider and was declared player of the series. She guaranteed her country would not come up short.

Whether this newest brilliant performance topped that previous effort is debatable.

Many contend the reasoning behind the pressure of a final. Others can counter with the test that comes when facing a record target and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's definite is this hundred was much more difficult to anticipate.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 happened while she topped the run-scoring charts, but this performance was preceded by six games in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it has been a frustrating experience because it seemed my form was missing at all," stated Healy.

"Yet the moment you take the field, your fighting spirit take over and you simply focus on the match."

Healy's competitive nature has consistently been her major advantage - and a priceless quality in succeeding famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, out to the young fast bowler in all three matches, but this time it merely gave Healy's inspiration.

A single was taken off the opening delivery and from there Healy was underway.

"The possibility to go out there and face the challenge with her and just have a bit of fun in that regard, kind of motivated me," stated Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at the World Cup - and her hundred in 84 as she flogged anything short, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

By the time she was out her side required another 66 at a run-a-ball - an unconquered height now demanding an easy conclusion.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I am glad we have the belief to accomplish that now," added Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it another time but, should it happen, we believe we can do it."

These statements will be the ultimate thing rival teams at this World Cup want to hear.

Over the past five days a feeling they will win from any position has grown stronger - this triumph following win against Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at one point.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before an encounter with longtime competitors England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final berth may probably be guaranteed.

It was at that stage they were eliminated from the previous year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy couldn't play because of damaged tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the initial instance at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she later said she regretted not playing through the pain.

Yet even as she subsequently acknowledged those injuries have pushed back consideration of ending her career, this tournament is anticipated as her last as captain in 50-over cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a world championship as leader.

Triumph in India would lead her to the peak of her ultimate challenge.
