Several Injured as Rough Air Impacts A Delta Airlines Plane Landing at Sydney
Several people sustained injuries when a Delta Airlines jet originating in Los Angeles to Sydney was hit by turbulence Friday morning.
Delta Flight 41 "encountered brief turbulence" as it landed at Sydney Airport, an airline spokesperson told. Several cabin crew members required medical attention.
Local paramedics said they assessed a total of five people, and transported a trio to a medical facility with minor injuries that included back pain and headaches. Those affected ranged from their thirties and seventies.
The event represents the latest incident of planes encountering severe turbulence, with researchers indicating that global warming is a major factor.
The aircraft was carrying 245 passengers and fifteen staff members on the Airbus A350, the official noted, clarifying that the plane arrived "safely" at the airport at 6:48 a.m. local time on Friday morning.
Paramedics indicated they received a call just three minutes before the plane landed, and ambulances were waiting on the tarmac.
