Recent Particulars Surface About the Location of the Reiner Couple's Remains
New information has come to light about the tragic deaths of acclaimed film director Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were found at their Brentwood, Los Angeles property on Sunday.
The Alarm
A source indicates citing a person close to the family, a therapist scheduled for an session first raised the alarm after not being able to enter the home. The therapist then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides nearby.
When she went into the residence, Romy discovered her father's body. Reports state she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. A companion who had accompanied her contacted 911. Afterward, emergency responders discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Proceedings
Law enforcement have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of premeditated murder, as well as the charge related to a weapon, said to be a knife. He is presently in custody and denied bail.
Disputed Reports
The anonymous source also disputed several initial details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick resided in a detached unit on the property, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that moment.
Additionally disputed circulated suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "worried" about Nick's actions in recent weeks. Rather the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."
This refutation applies to reports of alleged "erratic" behavior by Nick at a party thrown by Conan O'Brien on the night before the tragedy. Although the source noted they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they asserted that suggestions of a "heated argument" between the two were not correct.
Ongoing Inquiry Details
According to law enforcement sources, the medical examiner had not yet established at that point whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Some media reports indicated the condition of their bodies pointed to they had been deceased for a period of time.
Nick Reiner was apprehended at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, some 15 miles from the family home. He was set to appear in court on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, said his client had not received medical clearance and would not be present until Wednesday or later.
