American entertainer Finn, who featured in beloved television series such as Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has passed away at 60 years old.

The skilled improv artist died at home in LA recently after undergoing cancer treatment since 2022, according to reports.

"Pat considered no one a stranger - just potential friends he hadn't encountered," his loved ones shared in a statement.

They continued that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with zest and passion".

An Extensive Television Career

Finn's first television role was in the George Wendt Show in the mid-90s, where he appeared as the titular character's brother.

He was also seen in a repeating character on "Murphy Brown" from 1995 to 1997.

He appeared as the character Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in 1998, depicting a party host who would assign unpleasant chores to his guests.

Throughout the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on a variety of well-known programs, like:

  • King of Queens
  • Friends
  • "That '70s Show"
  • House

His most famous role for playing Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight seasons of the show from 2011 to 2018.

His work in movies include It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.

A Life in Improv

Away from his television work, Finn was an improv performer and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.

He was part of a six-member improv team named "Beer Shark Mice".

"He guided, supported, and advised numerous pupils throughout the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find someone anyplace who has a bad thing to say about him," his relatives stated.

Paying homage, peer Richard Kind noted there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, grounded individual you could encounter".

"Perpetually optimistic, making those around him better and funnier. An excellent dad and person," he shared online.

Pat Finn is survived by his spouse Donna, his three kids, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
