Close to 25,000 Experiencing Power in Queensland and Victoria Following Intense Weather Systems
Around twenty-five thousand households in Queensland's southeast found themselves without power on the start of the week after severe thunderstorms swept through the state, generating wind gusts reaching over 100 km/h.
Large Ice Stones and Broad Damage
Homeowners reported large ice chunks measuring up to 7cm in particular locations. Weather authorities announced that multiple regions across Queensland had been impacted by significant hail.

Emergency crews were focused on reestablishing electricity service throughout the affected regions, with dozens of response units deployed to handle the extensive power failures.
Victorian Weather Woes
At the same time, nearly 1,000 households in Victoria also experienced power outages after Melbourne experienced its wettest day in over 500 days.
State Emergency Services responded to over five hundred calls for help across the region, primarily for property damage but also for downed trees and flooding.

- Wyndham - 179 emergency requests
During the peak on the previous day, more than 28k power users in Victoria were without power.
Meteorological Predictions
Damp conditions were predicted to continue along significant areas of eastern Queensland this next several days as a weather pattern continued to draw in moisture against the coast.
Tuesday was expected to become the wettest day, with ongoing severe weather risk expected across different parts of both areas.
Medical Alert
Health officials cautioned that there was an increased chance of weather-related respiratory issues across the northern rural areas, particularly given the ongoing climate situation.
This warning comes after previous incidents where analogous circumstances led to significant health impacts in the region.
