This concluding episode of the star-studded version of the popular reality show was uploaded in error by international broadcasters prior to its planned UK broadcast on Thursday night, as confirmed official sources.

It is understood that the finale was watched by a small number of subscribers of the online platform the streaming service in the North American country; these individuals were able to watch it for a couple of hours before it was taken down.

The installment being released was not a error by the producing network, and a spokesperson for the corporation urged those who think they have discovered the outcome of the series to "avoid sharing any reveals".

"We urge those who thinks they know the outcome of The Celebrity Traitors to hold whatever they believe they know to themselves," the statement said.

"We ask you to refrain from sharing any spoilers so that the vast audience who have been closely watching every twist and turn of the show can experience the finale this evening."

The Celebrity Traitors is presently the most-watched TV show of the year, with an average of 12.6m viewers across the first four episodes.

Viewers of the series have been waiting to see whether traitors Cat Burns and Alan Carr will secure the £100,000 prize for charity or whether loyal contestants Joe Marler, Nick Mohammed and David Olosuga will be victorious.

A past champion of the third season of the show stated that "everyone dislikes spoilers", which are "the thief of joy".

He mentioned they will be sitting down to watch the final tonight live, with all of his family and "a bucket of popcorn".

Thursday night's final episode is extended to 70 minutes on the main channel, with an longer version of The Celebrity Traitors: Uncloaked set to air on BBC Two following the finale.
